NYC Kooba Sample Sale

November 17th, 2009 grace No comments

***UPDATE UPDATE: I dropped by the sale after work and there are still plenty of bags left. Even the Sample Room had dozens of bags waiting to be purchased. Again, many were damaged. Each sample bag was tied with a ribbon color, depending on the color, the prices were $150, $100 or $50 $65. This time around I also noticed new non-sample bags in the Sample Room. For example, the lavender Tylers were $25. The bag isn’t very attractive which is why it’s unloading for a measly $25 (hmmm….Christmas present for an auntie? for a purple color lover?). All the black motorcycle jackets are gone. However, there are plenty of white and metallic bronze ones left. The clothes also seemed untouched – Shirts for $10, Dresses for $25.  Belts were going for $15 but I couldn’t find a single one. There were also plenty of wallets left for $75. Sadly, most of the cute medium sized clutches were gone. The Courtney and pleated clutches were the few remaining styles left.  The good news is that one of the associates said they will be replenishing tomorrow, but are uncertain of the styles. Go early tomorrow if you plan to go!

KoobaWho: Kooba
Why: Up to 80% off sample bags and new bags
Where: 141 West 36th Street (between Broadway and 7th Avenue)
When: 11/17/09 – 11/19/09 (10am – 8pm, closed 2pm-3pm for lunch daily)

It was madness during lunch hour at the Kooba sale. There were boxes full of new bags spread across a decent size room. Off to the side was a smaller room with samples. Each bag was tied with a ribbon color, depending on the color, the prices were $150, $100 or $50. There are some great deals to be had in the sample room but be careful. There is discoloration, rips and markings on the bags. I saw a girl holding a gorgeous light color bag but on the other side of it was scribbles with style numbers in permanent market.

There were tons of clutches and small bags ranging from $40 to $75. There was a wide selection of larger leather and suede bags as well and included styles such as Ryder, Madison, Brett, Blake, Madison, Dale and much more. The suede bags felt a little heavy. Most of the bigger bags were around $250.

Near the door was a rack of leather jackets for $75. This was the best deal at the sale. Tons of 3/4 sleeve leather jackets left. I saw a few cute black motorcycle jackets but only in Large. Bummer.

UGG Short Rain Boots

November 17th, 2009 grace No comments

UGG

I finally gave in and bought rain boots last week. Over the past few years, when it rains in New York City, it real pours. I’ve ruined many pairs of gorgeous pumps walking through puddles of rain water. I came across a pair of UGG Short Rain Boots marked down to $69.99 from $150 on the Victoria’s Secret clearance site and couldn’t resist any longer. I was a little worried because only size 5 was left which means it probably runs very small. There are never any size 5s left!!!

My Geranium color boots came in the mail today. The color reminds me of 2008 J. Crew cashmere sweaters. These short rain boots are so pretty. They are not overly chunky and pretty slimming for rain boots. The fur lining is an extra bonus and it actually fits my calves without any problems. I checked the VS clearance site today and they seem to be sold out. I probably purchased the last pair. They seem to be discontinued as I don’t see them on the UGG website. If you come across them from a discounter or on EBAY I recommend getting them. It’s very comfortable and the fur lining helps transition from spring/fall to winter.

SATC: The Carrie Diaries

November 17th, 2009 grace No comments

SATCBOOK

Candace Bushnell, author of Sex and the City is in the works to publish a new book, The Carrie Diaries, to be released April 27, 2010. The new book will focus on the character of Carrie Bradshaw in her high school years and embrace topics such as her relationship with her mother, her first love and how she began her career in writing. The Louis Vuitton graffi-inspired cover is amazing. I’m really looking forward to the book but I wonder what The Samantha Diaires would read like. :)

November 12th, 2009 grace No comments

UPDATE #2: Here’s a photo with my findings at the Manolo sale. I was hoping to score a pair of silk D’ Orsays but no such luck. I’m very happy with my selection though.

UPDATE: Just left with 5 pairs of shoes including a super cute leopard shoe bootie. I will pair it black stockings and a skirt or leggings.

Just GO! It’s worth it. There was plenty of merchandise left around 2pm.

Who: Manolo Blahnik
Why:
MANOLOS starting at $100, need I say more??
Where: The Warwick Hotel, 54th Street and Sixth Avenue
When: November 12, 8:30 am – 4pm

It was sorta nice waiting to get into the sale this morning. It’s chilly and windy in NYC and I’m just glad I’m not standing on some line to get into the Metropolitan Pavilion. Waiting while sitting indoors wasn’t too uncomfortable.  I’ll keep everyone posted on the goodies I pick up.

Last Day of the Le Perla Sample Sale this Wednesday!

November 10th, 2009 kate No comments

For those that braved the lines on the first day, you would have likely faced long long lines amounting to at least an hour wait to get in.

However, I went again today and found no lines at all – I was able to go right on in. The bras are mostly mix and match and it maybe difficult to find a matching set. Still lingering around are a few lingerie night gowns, tons of swim wear and less than sexy pjs. If you stay long enough, the hostess of the sale has 5 min specials on things they still have overstock on. All and all, there is definitely enough stock to pay a visit on the last day of the Le Perle Sample Sale. Maybe they will even mark down prices to get rid of it all!!!

11/11 Lingerie, sleepwear, swimwear, and ready-to-wear items from La Perla are 80 percent off. Bras are $25 to $60 (originally $119 to $289), panties are $20 to $40 (originally $55 to $164), and sleepwear is $50 to $60 (originally $184 to $500). 4 W. 58th St., nr. Fifth Ave (212-920-1211); W (10–6).

Here are some from the sale:

Kate1

Islington Daniella in White Truffle $375 $189 (A refined casual style purse. This bag can be worn with jeans or a suit.)

Kate1

Tarrytown Charlotte in Black $445 $219 (A classic tote for the office or the market place. It’s very versatile and functional. It can be your go-to bag.)
