Finally! A BonChon South of City Hall

Who: BonChon John St.
Where: 104 John Street
New York, NY 10039
Why: Perfectly crispy chicken with tons of flavor sans the grease.

Last night was the Soft Opening of the John St. BonChon Chicken eatery and bar in the Financial District for select friends and friends of friends. I had the pleasure of being someone’s plus one. We had the chance to sample the eats and unique Asian fusion drink inventions in advance of tomorrow’s grand opening. Amongst the delicious eats were the crispy Korean style fried chicken in spicy and garlic soy flavors. As for drinks, there is everything from Asian Pear Soju to Lychee Bellini.

The BonChon crew is attentive and the atmosphere is laid back and modern. This is destine to become an after hours hangout for young Wall Street and chicken lovers alike! They will love it like Chelsea loves Brother Jimmy’s.

Natalie Portman in Rodarte for Target

January 11th, 2010 1:44 pm grace No comments

This weekend at the 9th Annual Arts & Leisure Event in New York City, Natalie Portman was spotted in this Rodarte for Target butterscotch-colored dress. The tulle dress retails for $39.99. Kate and Laura from Rodarte are geniuses in the fashion industry but the look of this dress is a little disappointing. It looks like a fairy princess Halloween costume for a child.

Karen Elson Replaces Angelina Jolie as Face of St. John

January 8th, 2010 12:37 pm grace No comments

In Spring of 2006, Angelina Jolie became the new face and spokeswoman for St. John. When the campaign was launched it created a lot of buzz in the fashion industry. At the peak of her career, Angelina was the essence of Hollywood glamour. People believed her independence, sexiness, sophistication and success would help rejuvenate a brand who’s image was becoming way too stuffy. Yesterday, the firm announced that Angelina Jolie had been replaced by Karen Elson as the face of St. John, citing that Jolie’s iconic image had overshadowed the luxury brand.

What do you think of this bold move?

Mikimoto – Employee Sale

January 4th, 2010 8:41 am grace 2 comments

Calling all boyfriends, husbands, lovers, sons and daughters! The sample sale of all sample sales is upon us. Valentine’s Day is not too far away.

Mikimoto is collaborating with Soiffer Haskin for their semi-annual sale again. There are some lavish pieces to be found at this sale. A year ago, the employee sales were held at Mikimoto’s corporate office on Fifth Avenue. The shopping experience was always personal and calm. This past summer, Mikimoto collaborated with Soiffer Haskin for the first time for their employee sale. Loyal Mikimoto patrons along with other sample sale bargain hunters were left waiting on the sidewalk for 2+ hours in 90 degree weather to get into the sale. There were showcases and showcases of pearls and other semi-precious jewels – much more than the corporate office ever held - but one could barely squeeze close enough to the counter to see what styles were available. While the new space allowed for more inventory, I enjoyed the luxuries of discretion and time at the Fifth Avenue space.

This is not really a sample sale. It’s an employee sale! All the stuff is new!

Last year I went to the sale and every piece is categorized by color discounts ranging from 40% to 80% off the original price. I believe the discounts will be comparable this time around. Prices are as marked. There are no further discounts as the sale progresses so it pays to get there early. For location and hours: Read more…

Kate Spade: Additional 25% Off Sale Items at Stores

December 29th, 2009 3:03 pm grace No comments

My friend took a long lunch break and headed over to the Flatiron Kate Spade. She’s reporting back that the store had tons of sale shoes with an additional 25% off all sale items. I checked the website and it looks like the additional 25% off is only at brick and mortars. She snagged a pair of Susannahs for $111 and a Pear Tree Candy Dish for $18. Grandma would love that dish for next year’s Christmas present!!

Nine West: Additional 50% Off Select Sale Items

December 29th, 2009 1:48 pm grace No comments

It’s a good thing this Nine West sale came along. I was starting to get a little disappointed with the after Christmas sales. Last year, I remember scoring a pair of $198 black leather knee high boots from Kenneth Cole for $23 the day after Christmas. And I remember enjoying the extra 40% off sale items at Club Monaco. I remember scoring a black blazer for around $20 marked down from $249 from there. Not from lack of trying, I haven’t been able to find any comparative deals this year.

Who: Nine West
Why: Additional 30% or 50% off select sale items after you add item to basket
Where: Brick and mortars and online
When: RIGHT NOW!!!
BONUS: FREE SHIPPING ON ALL ORDERS
ADDITIONAL BONUS: Enter NWSUMV9 at checkout to receive additional $10 off $65 when paying with a VISA card.

I just snagged myself three pairs:

Tesia: $99 $49.99 $34.99

The putty gray ones are much cuter but I opted for black because it’s more practical and I’ll get more use out of it.

Praire: $79 $49.99 $25

A girl can never have enough black pumps if she works at an office. At $25 a pop, these are perfect for walking to work. The corset detailing at the toe is so cute.

Jokers: $79 $49.99 $25

Very vintage. I love it. I already have the perfect dress in mind to wear with them.
